This past week, we kicked off a home Bible study at our house, teaching through the book of Ephesians.
Ephesians is a rich book and I’m excited to study it and teach it.
A new friend, Jill led worship for me.
This girl has an amazing voice, and a beautiful heart for the Lord.
She ended the evening in worship with a song I don’t know.
This chorus (or something like it) was sung over and over again:
“Oh how He loves us…”
The Lord ministered to me in that moment.
I had just delivered my first Message in about six months.
Personally, although the content was good, I felt like I didn’t do a very good job in delivering it.
But essentially the Lord spoke to me saying:
“Matt — it’s not about how much you love me, or how well you do..
It’s about how much I love you. “
Although my response to the love of Christ is to “do” (and this is an appropriate response) —
It’s really all about what He has “done”.
As we continue to study Ephesians — a book reveling in the wonderful grace of God — that’s really the message.
It’s not about what we can do, or our spiritual heritage or tradition.
It’s all about celebrating and living in light of what He has done.
