This past week, we kicked off a home Bible study at our house, teaching through the book of Ephesians.
Ephesians is a rich book and I’m excited to study it and teach it.

A new friend, Jill led worship for me.
This girl has an amazing voice, and a beautiful heart for the Lord.

She ended the evening in worship with a song I don’t know.

This chorus (or something like it) was sung over and over again:

“Oh how He loves us…”

The Lord ministered to me in that moment.
I had just delivered my first Message in about six months.
Personally, although the content was good, I felt like I didn’t do a very good job in delivering it.

But essentially the Lord spoke to me saying:

“Matt — it’s not about how much you love me, or how well you do..
It’s about how much I love you. “

Although my response to the love of Christ is to “do” (and this is an appropriate response) —
It’s really all about what He has “done”.

As we continue to study Ephesians — a book reveling in the wonderful grace of God — that’s really the message.

It’s not about what we can do, or our spiritual heritage or tradition.
It’s all about celebrating and living in light of what He has done.

One response to “love in reverse”

I think a fellow from my school played that song for mourning devotions. i did like the part about how the Lord loves us but then out of now where he sang a line that went ” heaven greats earth with a SLOPPY WET KISS” and that threw me way off. But maybe your talking about a different song. Either way the Lord showed me that when doing worship i need to take time to choose the songs and see if the words are for worship or personal enjoyment.
