Conspiracy

11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with his strong hand upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread13 But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

Isaiah 8:11-13

In our current age and culture — conspiracy theories about all manner of subjects have exploded.

Right and left.
Religious and secular.
Political.
Scientific.
Relational.

Conspiracies are mainstream.

What was once the arena of individuals on the fringe — is now quite common.

But our God has not called us to be common.

That’s why God warned the prophet Isaiah to not walk in the way of the culture.
To be set apart, to be different.

Do not fear what the people around you fear.
Do not be consumed by endless researching of countless connections and conspiracies.

That’s common — but its not for us, if we are to be Christ followers.

I have noticed a disturbing trend among Christians – of buying into all manner of conspiracy theories.
Of being consumed in our conversations, our online browsing and musing.
We have become passionate evangelists of conspiracy theories.

Friends — this should not be.

Paul admonishes us in I Corinthians 13:11 to put away childish things.
To grow up in the faith.

The world is full of evil, and is definitely inhabited by evil men who plot evil things.

But our hope is not in evil men or even in righteous men — its in the living God.

He is the one we must endlessly research and look into.
His Word must consume us — and transform us, and captivate us.
Jesus is the one we must become passionate evangelists for — because only Jesus can save us.
Only Jesus can bring hope to these dark days.

The world, its systems, and its actors will one day go dark.

All that we call a conspiracy now — will one day fade away.

In Hebrews 3:1 it says these words:

“My dear Christian friends, companions in following this call to the heights — take a good hard look at Jesus. He’s the centerpiece of everything we believe, faithful in everything God gave him to do.”

Focus on Jesus.
Put your hope in Him.
Grow into the beautiful maturity that comes from trusting in Him.
He is the Faithful one.
