let my words be few

words

Do not be rash with your mouth, And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few.  Ecc 5:2

My posts here have been few and far between lately (as have been my readers!).

Partly, I haven’t had too many thoughts or events worth writing about.

Maybe our culture has it wrong.
Maybe a Twitter about what I am doing RIGHT NOW isn’t really that important.

I think that we might be better to take the admonition to
“take every thought captive”  (2 Cor 10:5) rather than to instantly broadcast it.

And so lately — my words have been few.
At least I hope so.

I want to be slow to speak.  (James 1:19)
I want to take every thought captive.  (2 Cor 10:5)
I want my speech to be seasoned with grace. (Col 4:6)
I want the words of my mouth and the meditations of my
heart to be acceptable in the sight of God . (Psalm 19:14)

And most importantly — I want the things that I say to be from the Lord —
not from me.

Better to listen.
Better to wait.
Better to speak with authority than with regularity.

goodnight, and merry christmas.
