…Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh. (Ecc 12:12)
If you have ever stepped foot inside a Christian bookstore, you will find a vast array of volumes on a multitude of topics — all professing to be authoritative on some subject related to Christianity.
I’ve read quite a few good Christian books, and listened to hundreds of sermons. The problem is that these books and sermons for all they’re worth are written by men. Godly men, no doubt, but men nonetheless.
In the past couple of months, I have read two Christian classics — written by two Godly, unwavering men with opposing views on a controversial subject: The soverignity of God and man’s choice in salvation.
Hundreds of books have been devoted to the topic. I’ve heard great points in either direction. Over the years at different times I have even held to opposite views.
Interesting exposition — but unfortunately in all our efforts to explain the mystery of God, sometimes we birth confusion in people.
So, I opened my Bible to the book of John.
When you open this book — you look in the face of Jesus.
As I read page after page written in red letters — everything became clear.
As far as the mystery of God’s Grace and election — I haven’t a clue.
But when I come to the person of Jesus Christ, my Saviour and my God,
and I ask:
“Which way Lord?”
He simply says:
“I am the way.
I am the truth.
I am the life.”
I don’t have to understand every mystery. I just have to be in communion with Jesus — the one who saves.
Here is the key to life friends:
It’s not Bible Knowledge.
It’s not Education.
It’s not wealth.
It’s Jesus.
He is the way.
He is the only one that is true.
And in Him is abundance of life.
