The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” – Ruth 2:12
Ruth was a woman who left her people, her country, her prospects of re-marrying after the death of her husband to follow her aged mother in law to Israel to take care of her.
She goes out into a field and picks up the scraps of grain that the harvesters have dropped or passed by.
All to take care of an old woman.
Unselfish, hardworking and humble.
But Boaz, who is a picture of Jesus Christ in this book — notices Ruth, her work, and her sacrifice.
Not only does Boaz repay her with kindness — it was the Lord God of Israel who ultimately would repay Ruth for her kindness.
To me — this is quite encouraging.
When we humble ourselves, and are faithful, sacrificing — God will take notice.
He will exalt us, He will repay us, and take care of us far more than we could imagine.
So, whatever your doing, do it as unto the Lord, and He will reward you.
