Cease striving and know that I am God…
Psalm 46:10
This verse is most often rendered:
“Be Still and know that I am God”
But I love the way the NASB phrases it. To “cease striving”.
Today is saturday and a lovely one at that.
I slept in, cut the grass, had mexican food for lunch, wandered
around Prospect Park with my family and had a Dr. Pepper.
Resting, conversing with my wife, hanging with my daughter —
it’s a beautiful thing. But I really am most blessed thinking about the
peace that only God can bring. Peace that comes from just walking with
Jesus and not having to strive.
Someone asked me what I want to do ministry wise now.
And I have some ideas, some words from the Lord for the future etc.
But really — I don’t feel like I have to do anything.
As God daily gives me things to do, I will do them.
As opportunites arise for ministry, if the Lord is leading, I will do it.
And when the future becomes the present, I won’t be disappointed.
I think in the past, I’ve forgotten — and maybe you have too, that:
This is the Day that the Lord has made,
and I will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)
Today is a good day — because God made it.
He ordained it.
Tomorrow will come and it too will hold good things.
But for now, I will rejoice in today.
And remember these words from Micah 6:8
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
So my dear friends — brothers and sisters, let’s rest in the Lord.
And just enjoy His peace.
