Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell
together in unity! Psalm 133:1
I love the brotherhood of faith in Christ.
I just came from a prayer meeting with a group of people I don’t know
all that well.
What I have joyfully discovered though over the years is this:
Whether it be Slovakia or San Bernardino, Guatemala,
Iowa or right in my own backyard, I can step in a room of
unfamiliar people with a familiar love of Christ, and be family.
The love of Christ transcends politics, age, socio-economic barriers,
denominations, race, culture, country.
That is something really unique about the Christian faith.
There will always be those who want to divide, and splinter and fracture.
But to the true believer, there will always be unity with others around
the person of Jesus Christ.
True unity doesn’t come from rallies or marches or political candidates.
Those things will fade.
True unity is found in a common love, devotion and discipleship to Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 4:4-6 says this:
{There is} one body and one Spirit,
just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
To that, I say ‘Amen’.
