The course of my life

Death seems to be a reoccurring theme in my life and my ministry.
Not physical death — although I have had my fair share of that as well.

But rather the death that is required to follow Christ.

Philippians 1:21 says these familiar words:

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

The mode of my life as a Christian is death.

For to me…

Maybe it’s not for everyone  — but God as called me and
my family to live in a different way.
Not that were special.
Just called to this type of life.

Everyone has their calling — this happens to be ours.

…to live is Christ…

As people — we live for alot of things.
We would never say that. Because we don’t even realize
what we live for until we are forced to make a choice:

Do I follow Christ — or do I do what seems fair, normal, popular or sane?

If I opt for any of the latter choices — I live for that thing.

My mind tells me what a reasonable, prudent person ought to do.
My Jesus says “follow Me”.   (Jn 21:21-22)

If I resolve to follow Christ — and suffer the loss of all things, I truly live for Him.

I see no greater honor, and no greater calling.

What is the course of your life?
